INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup of water
- ¾ cup of large rolled oats
- 3 tablespoons of butter
- 1¼ cups of flour
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 1½ cuil. à thé de poudre à pâte
- 2 teaspoons of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 to 1½ cups of buttermilk
- ¼ cup of melted butter
- Confectioners' sugar
- Optional: fresh fruit coulis
PREPARATION
- In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Add the oats and cook, stirring, for 3 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Add the butter and mix until it has melted. Let it cool.
- In a large bowl, sift the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, mix the eggs and buttermilk, then fold in the cooled oatmeal mixture.
- Add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until the batter is smooth, no more (If the batter is too thick, add a little buttermilk).
- Preheat the waffle maker and completely brush the cooking plate with melted butter. Pour a little batter into the waffle maker. Quickly close the device and cook for about 4 minutes or until the waffles are golden brown.
